I hold a
Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Aalto University (Finland). As part of
my Ph.D. studies, I spent one and a half years in New York as a
visitor researcher at Columbia University. I hold two
M.Sc. also in Electrical Engineering from UPM (Universidad Politecnica de Madrid,
Spain) and from KTH
(Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan, Sweden). I work
for Ericsson in
Finland, at NomadicLab, which is the Finnish branch of Ericsson
Research. I have held several technical and managerial positions at
Ericsson, including founding and heading the Advanced Multimedia
Research Laboratory. . My research interests include signaling and
transport protocols, distributed architectures, and multimedia
applications. My management interests include strategic management,
resource-based organizations, change management, and self-regulation.
I serve as director of the RAI (Real-time Applications and
Infrastructure) area at the IETF and the IETF liaison manager to
3GPP. I am a
member of the advisory board (scientific council)
of IMDEA Networks
(Instituto Madrileņo de Estudios Avanzados) Networks. In the past, I
was a member of the IAB (Internet Architecture Board).
